Drew Halunen, Account Manager

Drew Halunen is an account manager at Trident DMG. He brings experience developing, managing and executing national communications strategies to Trident DMG clients.

Previously, Drew served as the head of public affairs for the oldest federal employee union in the country. Notably, he lead the organization’s public relations efforts during the 2013 federal government shutdown and the 2015 Office of Personnel Management data breach. His work navigating various government crises focused on educating the federal workforce while amplifying the voices of those affected on Capitol Hill and in national media outlets.

In addition to his work navigating the federal government, Drew’s experience includes managing diverse coalitions to advance legislative solutions. He played a role in securing worker-friendly provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act, passing legislation providing career paths for federal firefighters and securing increased identity theft protection funding for victims of the largest federal government data breach in U.S. history.

A proud native of Minnesota, Drew grew up in and around politics on Minnesota’s Iron Range. His political story began by serving as a campaign organizer while still in high school. Being a fifth-generation unionist, politics are hardwired into his DNA. He is a graduate of Marquette University.
